Floppy
Disk is a removable media used to transport digital
files. The most common now is 2HD or Double Sided High Density
(1.44MB). Really old machines used an older format called
2DD or Double Sided Double Density (800k). If you don't know
what your machine needs the 2HD is the most common. Floppy
disks and Floppy drives are now obsolete and are being "phased
out" by most computer hardware manufacturers. Currently,
computer systems have acceded in technological leaps and
bounds
so now most files generated on most machines won't even fit
on a floppy disk due to the small file capacity (1.2 MB average).
Most people use Zip Disks or CD-R's to transport their digital
files. Also most graphic files are to large to fit on a floppy.
At Williams Printing & Office Supply we still carry floppy
disks in Office Supply and can still put some files on floppy
disk (most common is scans for the internet) limited to the
file size. We also offer Zip Disks and we can take your digital
files and "Burn" them on a CD for you or email them
to you (depending on file size)
