Built Black is a term used when dealing with 4 color process or "CMYK" as its sometimes referred to. Since each color of CMYK is a transparent ink, 100% black does not make a true rich black so a BUILT BLACK is used. A built black is made up of percents of each ink used in 4 Color Process to generate a deep rich black. If other percentage settings are used besides these listed the final outcome of your black ink might not be as rich as needed and sometimes can cause image problems when underlying images or graphics appear. For our calibration settings we use these settings to build our black.
